Betrayal: The historic self-preservation weapon of choice
The betrayal of trust carries a heavy taboo.
~ Aldrich Ames
Luke 22:48 (AMP) ~ But Jesus said to him, Judas! Would you betray and deliver up the Son of Man with a kiss?
...and most of us know how that one turned out...it could have been considered utterly Shakespearean...if Shakespeare had been alive then.
Matthew 26:33-34 (MSG) ~ Peter broke in, "Even if everyone else falls to pieces on account of you, I won't." [34] "Don't be so sure," Jesus said. "This very night, before the rooster crows up the dawn, you will deny me three times."
And this one, thought more sincerely motivated, didn't turn out much better.

So, ya. It's been that kind of day. That kind of life. You'd think I'd be less surprised--more hardened and unaffected. It would seem that I am, as my mother was accustomed to repeating so often, incapable of learning. Glad we cleared that up.
